NARATIVE TEXT

  

Structure of Narrative Text: 

■ Orientation

 the opening paragraph of the text which introduces who the characters are involved in the incident (who) and the background time (when) and the background of the event (where). This orientation is located in the first paragraph of narrative text. So don't forget who, when, and where in orientation in narrative text.

■ Complication

consists of a paragraph explaining the beginning of the problem. The beginning of this problem also begins a series of plot (story line) which will then continue to conflict, climax, and anti-climax stories. Generally, the complication contains the interaction between the perpetrators of the event. This interaction creates a conflict or contradiction.

■Resolution

 The paragraph that ends the story. In this section, there is a settlement that makes the storyline end. Every problem that arises must have a solution, it can be closed with a happy ending or a tragic or sad ending.

■ Reorientation

the closing sentence that tells the final condition of the character in the story or the moral message of the story.

  Example:   The Legend Of Tangkuban Boat

 In ancient times, there lived a beautiful woman named Dayang Sumbi who lived in a hut with a loyal dog. He has a son who is named Sangkuriang. Dayang Sumbi was actually a goddess from heaven, and the dog named Tumang was her husband. Dayang Sumbi and Tumang were cursed by the gods because of a mistake so they had to come down to earth and live as a human and a dog. Both of them served the sentence gracefully.

Sangkuriang grew up to be a teenager who likes hunting. While hunting, he was always accompanied by Tumang. Tumang and Sangkuriang hunted forest animals. after each hunting, both of them bring their prey to eat or sell.

One day, Sangkuriang went hunting with Tumang. He saw a deer, and wanted to hunt it. By giving orders to Tumang to catch the deer. But it turned out that the deer ran very fast, so that the sangkuriang and tumang lost track of the deer. The result made Sangkuriang angry with Tumang because he could not catch a deer. Because Sangkuriang was very angry and couldn't control himself. He threw a stone at the tumang that hit his head, causing the dog to fall down and die. Sangkuriang was surprised by what he had just done. He regretted his actions, because he had made his beloved dog die.

When he got home, he told what happened to his mother. Dayang Sumbi, who was shocked by Tumang's death, immediately took her anger out on Sangkuriang. Dayang sumbi took a wooden spoon and then hit the spoon to Sangkuriang's head and hit his forehead. Because the lady of Sumbi was annoyed with Sangkuriang, she finally shouted and threw Sangkuriang out of his house.

For years Sangkuriang wandered from that trip to study IPMI in college. And grew up to be a handsome and handsome man.

Until one day, Sangkuriang arrived at a village which was his birthplace. but Sangkuriang didn't recognize it because there were so many changes. In addition, the wound on his head when he was beaten by his mother first, Tumang's death and Dayang Sumbi's expulsion made him forget his childhood.

While resting for a moment in a tavern, Sangkuriang saw a beautiful woman. he was stunned and wanted to marry her. Sangkuriang did not know that the woman was his mother, namely Dayang Sumbi. Because Dayang Sumbi is a descendant of a god, her face is not aging. that was what made Sangkuriang not recognize his own mother. But lady Sumbi recognized Sangkuriang because she saw the scar on the young man's forehead.

 To avoid the forbidden marriage between a mother and a son. Dayang Sumbi asked him to make a lake and a boat in one night as a wedding gift for him. With the help of supernatural beings from the forest, Sangkuriang built a lake and a boat.

Dayang Sumbi thought that the two conditions would make Sangkuriang resign. But it turns out that Sangkuriang was able to do it with the help of supernatural beings

Dayang Sumbi knew about it and she tricked Sangkuriang so that the job was not fully carried out. Knowing this, Sangkuriang was so angry that he kicked the boat and the boat capsized. This became the Tangkuban Perahu mountain in West Java.

Moral value: 

The lesson that can be learned from the legend of Tangkuban Perahu is never to destroy the trust given, especially by killing loyal friends who continue to accompany them to be sacrificed for personal gain. Sangkuriang is an example that should not be imitated, he has the heart to get the wrath of his mother. The message that can be conveyed from the legend of Tangkuban Perahu is to please your parents in a good way and not against the prevailing values and norms.

Conclusion: this sangkuriang story teaches us not to drag on with anger and control our emotions to remain patient in any condition and not easily influenced.
